What we’ve been up to:
When COVID ended the 2019-2020 season early, we all wondered what would be next for Lincoln Cannons. Training sessions came to a halt, competitive leagues were cancelled, and a lockdown fell over all of England. No one knew when we’d get to play volleyball again. While the pandemic has brought hardship and struggles for many, members rallied together to support their club during a difficult season. Thanks to the hard work of club leaders and loyal members’ support, Lincoln Cannons has begun the process of starting up weekly training again. But what have we been up to since lockdown started in March?
While meeting together was banned, we participated in a virtual group challenge called Volley Round the World. Members submitted videos of themselves playing volleyball in their Cannons kit in the safety of their homes, backyards, or parks. When we put the videos together, it looked like we were all playing together again!

Later in the summer, some restrictions were lifted and we were allowed to meet in small groups to play outdoor volleyball. Meeting in parks, we’d pepper and play small games together with a net provided by our club head coach. Despite outdoor play being much different than what we were used to, we were all just thankful to be playing volleyball again. We made sure to follow Government Guidelines to the T, and adhered to social distancing rules as well as having sanitation breaks and properly cleaning our equipment.
Now that sports halls have begun to open up, we are very excited about training together indoors again. New regulations require we train in bubbles of six, but thanks to much planning and organization we’ve been able to run trial sessions safely and are almost ready to open training to our members!
