Lincoln Cannons Volleyball Junior Teams Update!
Written by Kyla, aged 15 who plays for Lincoln Cannons Under 16s junior team.
Starting off the 2022-23 season, Lincoln Cannons have entered their first junior Under 18’s and Under 16’s teams into Volleyball England’s Grand Prix tournaments. In the development sessions held on Thursday evenings the junior teams were coached separately for half of each session by Caitlin, head coach of development and Naz, the clubs head coach. All in preparation for their first tournaments which for the U18’s took place on the 26th of November and for the U16’s was on the 10th of December. A handful of these players have also been nominated for the East Midlands U15/U17 team trials!
The tournament was amazing considering it was our first time playing as a team. It was a really fun day and I’m proud to have played with everyone. I can’t wait to see what the next ones will bring because I’m sure together as a team we will do amazing things. The trials have properly shocked me. The fact that I have an opportunity to play at such a level is so amazing and I’m excited to make the club as proud as possible.Libby, aged 15, U16, Mixed A and Women 2 player
Junior Grand Prix Tournaments
But that’s not all that’s been happening in the Development sessions! Just like last season, on the first session of each month, Lincoln Cannons’ own Grand Prix tournaments take place. Players compete, earning points as a team that will then be added to their own individual score on the leader board!
I find the GP nights amazing as it gives us a chance to show off all of the things we have learnt in the normal development sessions and gives us freedom to try things we might have never tried before.Alfie, aged 16, U18 and U16 team player
Junior Christmas Tournament
Development also had a Christmas tournament on the 22nd of December! Dressed in something festive, ranging from Christmas socks to a reindeer costume, teams 1-4 competed against each other. With team 2 coming out on top with 91 points!
The Christmas tournament was a fun way to round off the year. It allowed us to apply everything we had learned in a fun and relaxed environmentKody, aged 17, U18 and Mixed B team player
