Party in the Park
Sunday 14th August 2022 saw Lincoln Cannons host our first outdoor volleyball tournament, Party in the Park! The tournament was held to raise money for a fund very close to the heart of Cannons- Hearts&Hope4Helen. This fund is raising money to help support Helen Crawford and her family. Helen is an RAF nurse, a Cannon, a good friend, a wife, and a mother, who unfortunately was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer. This fund has proven vital in supporting Helen and her family through an unimaginably difficult time. For more information regarding Hearts&Hope4Helen, check out the link below.
Fundraising to make a difference to the lives of Helen Crawford and her family after a devastating secondary breast cancer diagnosis just days before Christmas 2021. 25% of everything raised will be given to METUP UK, who work tirelessly to support people affected by this disease and campaign for more treatments and awareness.

Party Food
You can’t have a Party in the Park without some good food! We had incredible, fresh woodfired pizzas from Pizza Loco, delicious ice cream from Party Delights, and so many mouth-watering baked goods from Roo’s Cakes! Not to mention the endless tuck shop arranged by the Lincoln Cannons committee!

Party Volleyball
What’s a party without some volleyball?! There were four volleyball courts set up across the field. One being for beginners wanting to give volleyball a go, one for our developing Cannons wanting to improve their skills and get some game time, and two for more experienced players. Safe to say that everyone who played had a great time!
Cannons also put on an exhibition match where some of our more experienced players took on some players from other clubs. Players came from all over to show their support! Including Nottingham Rockets VC, University of Lincoln VC and Portsmouth. It was an awesome game, and great to see so many people playing together!

Party for the Kids
We also had plenty to do for the kids! From awesome bouncy castles provided by Lincs Bounce, to face painting and temporary tattoos with Lollipops, and a wide variety of mini games to keep everyone entertained! Of course, all the adults had to have a go on the bouncy castles too!

Party Goals Achieved
As mentioned at the beginning of the post, the reason behind Party in the Park was to raise money for Hearts&Hope4Helen. The fund in turn then donates 25% of all their monies raised to the METUP charity supporting those diagnosed with secondary breast cancer. Lincoln Cannons are so incredibly pleased to update that the total monies raised for the fund is a whopping £661.20!
We wanted to say a huge thank you to all who attended! Including the vendors, the players, and those who donated. But also a big thank you to the committee and coaches for running the event, and of course, to Helen for being such an incredible role model and inspiration to all! #cannonsfamily
